Newsletter (writing)
Do you need a well-written newsletter to distribute by e-mail or surface mail that will make your name known and build your image? A popular size for a print newsletter is A4 (A3 folded in half gives you 4-pages of content); and an Online Newsletter usually covers up to 3 pages or more.
Before launching a newsletter, consider the following:
Think of the image you want to project and commit the proper resources for producing something of quality. It worth spending the money to have it professionally designed, written and printed. Even a basic newsletter can say “quality” if designed and written well. Plan a distribution of no less than quarterly (more often for maximum exposure and especially if your information is time-sensitive) and stick to the schedule.
Newsletters are highly effective marketing and customer relationship-building tools. The purpose of a newsletter is to promote any business and to further the aims of any club, school or voluntary organization. They're even starting to replace the more expensive media of advertising and direct mail, both in business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C). The fact is, permission-based e-newsletters outperform every other online advertising and e-marketing medium. However, to be effective a newsletter should not read like a hard-hitting sales letter or product/service--focused brochure that people generally hold a natural suspicion for. A newsletter that’s all self-promotion is a turn-off and is quickly considered junk mail. Rather it's approach should be the equivalent of a personal friend or ssociate recommending your services to your customers or membership. It is important to know beforehand the needs and expectations of your target audience when compiling the content of a newsletter. By offering the right products, services and information that appeal to your readership you develop positive opinions about your company (or organization) which builds credibility and promotes customer loyalty. Provide a mix of information - company news, product news, customer or resident features, Q&As, tips, industry briefs, photos, line art, etc. Just make sure it all relates to your goal. An online newsletter can include links to different areas of your website.
