Presentations

Do you need a well-planned presentation to effectively deliver your message?

In today’s fast-paced global business climate, getting your points across quickly and effectively has become more important than ever. Sharpen your presentation skills so you can communicate clearly and confidently – whether to small groups or large audiences. Making a presentation is hard enough without having to worry about committing a cultural faux pas.

Plan, prepare and deliver presentations. Get your ideas across, and get them implemented. It is however vital to know about the customs and cultural differences of your audience.

Language can cause many misunderstandings. Greeting VIP’s at the beginning of your speech may or may not be customary. Some people enjoy humour in a speech while others are vehemently opposed to it during the speech but find it acceptable during the question-and-answer session.

Using desktop publishing capabilities to produce slides, overheads, flipcharts and handouts of professional caliber that heighten the impact of your presentations. Analyze decision-makers in the audience, how to use a logic tree, anticipate questions, handle disruptions. Know your audience. It is important to know your audiences’ business dress code, cultural gestures and greetings, and when and how business cards are exchanged.

Do not be surprised if some in your audience close their eyes when listening to your speech, if people in the audience leave occasionally, or if audience members talk to each other during your speech. Be aware of political correctness, making comments that have sexual innuendoes, and the use of titles in spoken communication.

A presentation may benefit from including visual aids and printed literature.

  • Visual Aids give your audience direct sensory contact with your speech. Visual aids enhance understanding, add authenticity, add variety, improve presentation skills, help your speech have lasting impact, can help build your ethos as a speaker.
  • Printed Literature include catalogues, pamphlets, brochures, and newsletters.
